Digital Marketing Made Simple: A Step-by-Step Guide

digital marketing. Is this another one of the new, fancy passwords used to stay smart in meetings or is it a real deal?

Perhaps a better question: What is digital marketing?

The Digital Marketing Guide will show you what it is.

First popularized as a term in the early 2000s, digital marketing took a really long time.

Like, long way. About 100 years long, to be exact.

Here is a picture of the first digital marketer in history:

Gulimo Marconi

His name: Guglielmo Marconi.

What? Marconi?

Yes. In 1896, he was the first to perform a “public broadcast of wireless signals”.

Kana invented radio.

After their short exposure in Britain, the Morse signal was changed to open water.

Also, radio still has 10 years to reach the general public, but it didn’t take long for its makers to realize that it could be used to sell products.

First live broadcast made an opera performance and then guess what people did?

They buy show tickets!

Digital marketing strategy was born.

I think you are surprised. I am not talking about smartphones, apps, Facebook ads or blogs.

This is because digital marketing has nothing to do with the Internet.

If you are wondering what digital marketing is … it is advertising provided by digital channels. Channels such as social media, mobile apps, email, web apps, search engines, websites or new digital channels.

Or simpler version …

Digital marketing is any type of marketing product or services that includes electronic devices.

This has been around for decades (due to electronics) and why it is not associated with content marketing, Google advertising, social media or restructuring.

Digital marketing can be done both online and offline.

Also, both types of digital marketing strategy are necessary.

Why Digital Marketing Is Important
Do you remember the billboards?

As a child in California, my experiences from the back seat of our car often changed in between: “Mom, when are we?” And “Oh, you see, McDonald’s, can we go?”

Growing up with Indian parents, the duo’s response was, for the most part, the same: “Not yet.”

Sometimes, big brands will also start a billboard war between Audi and BMW, which is a lot of fun:

In 2015, a ton of my customers still spent millions of dollars on billboard advertising.

Unfortunately or luckily, it is dead.

Think about it, Google and Facebook earn more revenue than any traditional media company because they control more vision. This is why digital marketing is important, and where the focus is.
The cause of Billboard’s death is described in a photo of Volvo, as above.

Because, clearly, the future of driving is like this:

Not even a traveler spends his time looking at the road.

I did you a favor, and next time you drive with a friend, look at the passenger seat.

just one second.

Even now, they probably look at their phones.

If the driver has not yet seen the road, who should see those commercials?

Furthermore, it also does not take into account the self-driving cars that both Apple and Google operate (you know that will happen).

Elon Musk suggested that they come here in 2020. It is in a few years.

I mean, you don’t have much time to run this old school printing press and find this digital marketing thing before closing the store.

A portion of people who spend most of their time using electronic devices will leave from here.

Because Americans spend 11+ hours on electronic devices every day, nothing is left. That is, as long as we spend our time in the digital world.

Yes, online marketing is aimed at 25-year-olds, who can now earn $ 2 million annually to sit in their living room and play video games, while offline marketing still has a place.

Let’s cycle around a helicopter to get an overview.

The 2 main pillars of digital marketing are online marketing and offline marketing. Since I will talk about online marketing in a separate guide, I will only mention different areas of online marketing for the entire purpose.

7 main categories of online marketing:

Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
Search Engine Marketing (SEM)
content marketing
Social Media Marketing (SMM)
Pay per click (BBC) advertising
Link marketing
email marketing
Unbounce has created an excellent chart that neatly compiles all types of online marketplaces on the chart.

Well, what else is digital marketing? In fact there are many.

There are 4 main categories of digital offline marketing.

First, what I call advanced offline marketing. It is a type of marketing that is completely offline, but is enhanced by electronic devices.

For example, if your customers use your restaurant iPods to place their orders, the offline experience of eating Thai food is enhanced with this electronic device.

People have been using digital mediums to improve their marketing for decades (see whichever way you’ve forgotten you).

Next, is radio marketing. The next time you’re annoyed, the more eager car dealer shouts out every word of his business, thanks to Mr. Marconi.

Of course, TV marketing is something we will never forget. TV commercials have been around for over half a century (and with color across the country since 1953 – yes, there was a time before TV).

Finally, offline marketing is a vast and rapidly growing field that has welcomed many failures, explosions, and failures: phone marketing.

Let’s look at 4 parts in more detail.

Offline marketing improved
What’s the difference between a billboard somewhere in the Arizona desert and a billboard in New York City’s Times Square?

Shape? Subject?

3 digits: LED light emitting diode.

All hoardings in Times Square are electronic!

Why? Because of the Arizona desert, no one is competing with you for people’s attention. If you have a billboard, you will win.

But, in Times Square, meditation is more important than anywhere else in the world. More than 330,000 people come here every day.

If you want to interfere, buses, taxis, advertisers shout, then, there are electronic billboards.

Some of them are more interactive, showing live feeds to pictures of class people or customers.

If you rent a billboard space in Times Square for a year, you will get 4,000,000,000 to 4,000,000.

Sounds expensive? Wait until you hear the value of Super Bowl commercials.

What other forms does advanced offline marketing take?

What do you see when you go to the Apple Store these days?

People are leaning towards iPods, MacBooks and iPhones.

If you have an electronic product, any product demo is an integral part of your digital marketing strategy.

Well, the next one is good. If you remember this, you can consider yourself a very lucky child:
