Common vaping problems

Common vaping problems

Vaping is an increasingly popular activity. It’s estimated that over 2 million people in the UK use e-cigarettes, and this number is continuing to grow.

But like any other hobby or pastime, vaping does come with its own set of potential pitfalls and problems which you need to know about before you get too much further into it. These include things like what’s in the liquid (PG/VG), making sure the battery lasts long enough before charging, all sorts of flavors that can sometimes end up tasting like chemicals when vaped, food colorings in e-liquids which may also cause allergic reactions for some people, and much more.

The challenge of balancing PG/VG

The two most common terms associated with e-juice are Vegetable Glycerin (VG) and Propylene Glycol (PG). Choosing the wrong ratio of PG to VG can put off a new vaper.

PG and VG are used in many e-liquids. From strawberry flavors to tobacco or menthol flavors (which are popular right now), the types of e-liquid options out there are truly vast. When it comes to flavor, the trend is strongly leaning towards tobacco/menthol right now. For examples of the flavors on offer visit

Throat hit

If you are looking for a strong throat hit, then choosing a ratio higher in PG will appeal to your tastes.

e-fluids high in VG will offer you a smoother vaping experience and will have a “thicker” mouthfeel in comparison to e-fluids high in PG. You will also get a much fuller and thicker vapor cloud when you use a liquid high in VG.

My vaping device doesn’t draw properly

If you have a sub-ohm vaping device (this means you are using coils that produce more vapor and more intense flavor), you may find that your device isn’t drawing very well after a while. This is because the coils aren’t built to last, so when they have been used for too long, they become ineffective as the holes in them get clogged up with burnt residue. It’s recommended to clean your coil regularly to try and avoid this happening!

Too much nicotine can be overwhelming

Many e-liquids contain quite high levels of nicotine. This can leave you feeling quite light-headed or dizzy if you are a new vaper and use one of these juices. E-liquids containing nicotine tend to come in various different strengths, so if you want more of a gradual increase in your nicotine consumption, starting off with e-liquids containing lower levels of nicotine can be the best way to do this.

You can always add an extra shot of e-liquid with higher levels of nicotine later on if you feel the need!

Having to recharge my battery far too often

One big problem with e-cigarettes is that many people get caught out by how quickly their batteries run out. It’s recommended that you charge your e-cig at least once a day to avoid this.

A battery doesn’t last forever

The lifespan of many e-cigarettes is much shorter than traditional tobacco cigarettes. Therefore, you should buy a new one regularly, especially if you vape often or are using it quite intensely. You can check your battery life by pressing the power button and then checking the settings menu somewhere on your device (usually underneath the fire key).
